Buckhannon Upshur Retail Merchants Association

Second Annual Merchants Fall Evening Shopping Event in Downtown Buckhannon.

The Buckhannon Upshur Retail Merchants Association held the second annual Merchants Fall Evening Shopping Event on Friday, October 16th, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in downtown Buckhannon. Despite the rain, the Jazz and Big Band music created a "festive" atmosphere on the streets of downtown and enticed shoppers to begin their holiday shopping.

Most of the merchants participating provided refreshments and snacks during the evening in addition to some in-house specials. A few merchants even remained open until 10:00 p.m. to entice early shoppers to look for that great deal.

The event was covered by local media stations during the two weeks leading up to the event and broadcast live on 93.5 WBTQ from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Brad Allen, radio celebrity from WBTQ, braved the rain and visited some of the participating merchants to inform listeners about what Buckhannon has to offer and invited them downtown to enjoy the event.

In all, fifteen businesses participated during the extended hours event. Check back for further details.

BURMA would like to say "THANK YOU!" to all of the volunteers, to Laura Love and Brad Allen of WBTQ, The Sign Guy for the posters, Angelic Designs for promotions, Whimsical Treasures for the balloon bouquets, and to all of the businesses that participated in the event. Those participating were: Anderegg Jewelers, Books, Books, Books, Hometown Market, Hot Stuff Cool Things, Main Street Gallery, Merle Norman Cosmetics/The Pink Hydrangea, N'Telos, SherryLynns, Sherry's Hairport, Shops at 46 Main Street, Technology Warehouse, The Bookstore, The Stitching House, Whimsical Treasures, and the WV Strawberry Festival Store.
