BUCKHANNON , WV – The Buckhannon Upshur Retail Merchants Association held their Annual Meeting on January 22nd, 2009 at A Governor’s Inn in Buckhannon. At the meeting, nominations were accepted for the 2009 Officers and members voted to approve the submission from the Nominating Committee. The 2009 BURMA Officers are Sharyn Coker, President; Emma Lue Marsh, Vice President; and Angela Errett, Secretary/Treasurer.
Shortly after adjournment, the new officers held an Executive Committee meeting to appoint two (2) members to the Executive Committee. Those appointed by President Coker were Gene Starr, Past President, and Jerry Henderson.
Ex-Officio members of BURMA are Buckhannon Upshur Chamber of Commerce, President, Julie Keehner; Buckhannon Upshur Convention & Visitors Bureau, Executive Director, Lori Ulderich Harvey; Region VII Planning & Development Council, Executive Director, Rosemary Wagner; Southern Upshur Business Association (SUBA), President, Glen Hawkins; Upshur County Development Authority, Executive Director, Stephen Foster.
The association looks forward to continuing its dedication to Upshur County and the downtown merchants by promoting our local economy through advocacy, information, and networking opportunities.
